THE RESEARCH BASED DESIGN PROCESS

We leave out the guesswork, and instead always base design choices on collected information and a comprehensive understanding of the influencing factors. Design is first and foremost an iterative process that seeks to question, identify and solve problems creatively.

We currently implement standards IEC 60601 and IEC 62366 in our work.

RESEARCH

Comprehensive data collection is at the center of health design. Design’s data collection methods borrow methodology from sociology and engineering sciences and are therefore solution-oriented and adaptable to the resources of different development projects.

INSIGHT

Collected information is structured, analysed and illustrated in a way that supports understanding. By illustrating information with the methods of service and information design, new insight is obtained from the collected data.

TESTING

Merivaara’s Q-Flow light won the FenniaPrize Grand Prix and Red Dot Design awards in 2017. User needs, ease of use and quality were considered in the design of the Q-Flow, which all resulted in a modern surgical light.
